的 BA in Television and Digital Media 程序, Audio/Sound Design Concentration approaches the study of sound production as an interdisciplinary, multi-platform experience. 的 skill-based curriculum is designed to allow you to create compelling sound design for all forms of media as well as become proficient in audio production techniques. Coursework is complemented by hands-on work at the campus radio station as well as on various documentary, 电视, 电影, 剧院 and 音乐 projects. 实习 at professional 广播, 后期制作, 音乐 and media companies are highly encouraged and strongly supported by the school.

的 Audio/Sound Design Concentration begins with theoretical and practical coursework in the physics of sound as well as studio operations, 记录的原则, 混合, editing and effects processing. As you progress through the program, you will create original sound design for 广播, 电影, 音乐, 剧院 and gaming projects.

Access to state-of-the-art equipment in the audio studios, radio station and DuMont Television Center will allow you to hone your expertise as you become skilled on audio equipment used in the industry today.

的 curriculum for the BA in Television and Digital Media, Audio/Sound Design Concentration is comprised of 120 credits (3 cr. per course) and includes five areas of requirement:

1. Television and Digital Media – Audio/Sound Design courses (15 credits) — sequential instruction specific to the major-concentration
2. Common-Core School Curriculum(18 credits) — a broad foundation for understanding all communication and media disciplines (required of all students in the School of Communication and Media)
3. 主修课程 (15 credits) — further development of major-related expertise
4. General education courses (45-48 credits)  –-  exploration of studies that comprise a liberal arts education – e.g. 以书面形式, 人文学科, 数学, 自然的, social and computer sciences (required of all 大学 students pursuing a bachelor of arts degree)
5. 自由选修课 (15-24 credits) — exploration of additional areas of interest or inclusion of a Minor

In addition, students often pursue internships to acquire practical experience related to the major.

Graduates may also find jobs in craft disciplines including sound design and sound editing, working in settings such as concert venues and recording studios.  Many audio specialists service large-scale performance productions and sports events as well as smaller-scale meeting functions and school lectures.
